Dear [ELECTED OFFICIAL’S NAME]:

Please Stop Cell Towers on PGCPS School Grounds

I just recently learned that Prince George's County has made our public schools available for cell tower construction.

We are very concerned about the cell tower’s radio frequency (RF) radiation exposure on our family and the uncertain scientific evidence that shows that cell tower RF emissions may have adverse health effects on humans in residential areas.

We are also concerned about the safety hazards such a facility can pose to children. Towers can catch on fire and they have hazardous materials on site. We are also concerned the cell tower will decrease the property value of our home as well as other homes in our area as potential home buyers may not want to live near a cell tower that emits radiation.

Further, given the Prince George’s County Public Schools’ (PGCPS) Board of Education signed a leasing agreement in 2011 to allow the leasing of PGCPS property to wireless towers, I am very disappointed with how this project was presented to the community. We were not made aware of all the health and safety issues such towers pose to our community. We were not told there would be lead acid batteries and diesel generators on site and workers pulling onto school grounds 24/7.

Prior to 2011, we were not given the opportunity to provide public input about a proposal to build cell towers on PGCPS property as we were not aware that such an issue was moving forward.   Based on the reasons stated above, it is my hope that you will not allow this facility to be built at our neighborhood school or any schools in the county.

Thank you for your leadership and I look forward to a positive outcome on this very important matter that concerns the health of our children, families, and homes.

Please put a HALT to these cell towers on school grounds. Please STOP the construction of these towers.

Sincerely,
